Experimenting with new approaches to architectural production, kopatzkis begins by re-imagining the reality of an empty apartment in a prefabricated building for two weeks. How do fictional scenarios influence the way we perceive and produce urban realities? Given the constantly increasing demand for housing, how can these imaginaries help us to deal with the potential of existing prefabricated housing estates in Berlin Hellersdorf?

In two weeks, an empty apartment becomes the focus of the short film that thematises the former influx of large families into the brand new neighbourhoods of the East. What happened to the favoured families who had access to the formerly brand new flats? How can an understanding of the precise history of the development of this neighbourhood help us to imagine possible interventions in the existing buildings?
